Raffay Hamid is the overall technical lead for personal intelligence on Meta’s smart glasses, driving the vision and end-to-end development of multimodal AI systems that can understand, remember, and reason to assist people in everyday life.
Previously, he was the single-threaded leader for the development of multimodal LLMs for Amazon Rufus, helping transform Amazon’s traditional keyword-based shopping into a conversational and interactive experience. Before that, as Chief Scientist at Prime Video, he led advances in video understanding and synthesis, creating new ways for users to discover and engage with Amazon’s catalog of cinematic and live video.
A founder and advisor to multiple AI startups, including Turi, which was acquired by Apple, Raffay holds 35+ patents and has authored 50+ publications. He is a frequent keynote speaker at leading research venues, has served on the board of the MIT-Amazon Science Hub, and his work has been featured by BBC, TIME, and MIT Technology Review.
